Now, where I live (in Northern Virginia, USA. Not even an hour and a half away from D.C), we don't get alot of earthquakes. An occasional itty bitty 2.0 one from time to time, down south. So I've never felt one: until today.
A 5.9 quake hit almost at 2PM. At first, it was little shakes. I thought it was a helicopter flying overhead, because the big military ones tend to cause our house to shake. But then it got worse, much worse. I was home alone and couldn't reach anybody, so I had a full-on panic attack. The cats were scared too. We huddled in the basement bathroom until I felt it was safe to come out.
My mom came and got me and we sat at a friend's house until we were sure the aftershocks wouldn't be bad. Not much damage was done to our house, thank goodness. A picture frame broke, some stuff fell, most stuff was pushed forward on the shelves and the medicine cabinet was flung open. But it was scary. I thought we were being bombed or something, because I'm a paranoid nutcase like that.
Anywho...just letting ya'll know I'm okay. :3c
